October 8, 2009

Hi Yogis and Yoginis,

Welcome to October, and the lovely warmer, longer days that it brings. I can tell from the increase in numbers in classes that a few of you may have been hibernating a little this past winter. As I type, our first thunderstorm of the year passes overhead. What a sight to behold, and now for the accompanying greening of our flora over the next few days.

Coinciding with the warmer mornings, will be a weekly beach class, as we introduced last summer. This class takes place on the grass, under a big tree near the workout station, opposite the Yacht Club on Parkyn Parade. Look out for the Yoga Vida tear drop banner, just near the big dirt car park. I am aiming to start the outdoor class on Wednesday 21st of October, and continue all the way through til approx April next year. This means the studio classes at 6am on Tue and Thur will not be affected, and there will be an alternative pilates class in the studio on the Wed at 6am, which you may all attend in case of rain.

Which leads us into the hottest topic of the month, our two new teachers. Jen Stott will be jumping onboard, teaching two yoga classes a week, on Thursday at 1.30pm and alternate Saturdays at 9am. Amelia Jones will be adding a new forum to Yoga Vida, teaching Pilates four times a week. I look forward to participating in both Amelia’s pilates and Jen’s Hatha/Iyengar classes, and hope you do to. For full class info and bio’s on the girls, please refer to the website, www.yogavida.com. Welcome ladies!

Other big news this month is from our Ecolife partners, with an open day taking place on Saturday October 24th. We will be showcasing all four modalities now catered for at Ecolife, including Yoga, Chiropractic, Naturopathy and Massage. For more details check www.ecolifechiro.com . Please book early as spaces are limited.

Another big change being introduced this month is an online booking system for yoga classes. Yoga Vida has teamed up with Mind Body Online to provide a user friendly forum for you to book, monitor and (soon) pay for your classes, securely online. With classes starting to book out, we needed a simple solution to manage class size effectively. To start using, simply go to www.yogavida.com.au , click on the ‘Mooloolaba Classes’ tab, and then click the ‘Book online’ button under the schedule. You will have to enter a username and password on your first visit. Thanks for your patience as we iron out any bugs during the implementation phase.

For the latest info from my lineage, please refer to my teacher Jimmy Barkan’s website - http://www.barkanmethod.com/discover.html . There are a number of posture’s of the month and all sorts of other useful information. Thanks for spending some time to reads this month’s info, and I look forward to seeing you in a class soon. Have an awesome Summer.

Namaste, Bryan
