I hope you have all enjoyed the winter and are firing up ready for another awesome summer. I may be a bit early with that call, but surely with a little group energy we can lengthen the days! Time to start getting ready to hit the beach though,,,,, bikinis, etc.
Once again, lots happening in the world of Yoga Vida. This month please let me introduce Jess Etcell, and Emily Rockett to our rapidly growing family. Jess brings a variety of yoga flavours to her teaching palette from her studies with her yoga teacher training with My Health Yoga, to her varied practice with expansive styles such as power, flow, vinyasa, acro and bikram and more introvertive styles such as yin, radiant light chakra and hatha yoga. Jess’ classes are a safe and non-judgmental environment to 'practice' cultivating self awareness, acceptance and staying calm and centred under challenge. Her multivitamins come in 2 varieties - a detoxifying and strengthening power flow (yang) and a deep and cleansing LSD - long slow deep (yin). Take both weekly for optimal nutrition. Jess will also be holding a prenatal class on Thursday arvo at 3pm.
Emily discovered yoga in 2004 as a solution to muscle tension from surfing. When the benefits of yoga became addictive it soon developed into its own daily discipline. Through world travel and exploration Emily developed a style of yoga that compliments an active lifestyle “regardless of your fitness level, yoga will transform your body and calm your mind”. Emily completed her certification at the Byron Yoga Centre studying under some of Australia’s most acclaimed instructors. “My main goal as a teacher is for people to get the most out of their bodies in order to live happy and fulfilled lives”. Emily’s classes are a balance of strength and flexibility suitable for all ages and levels of ability “my classes are warm and welcoming with a focus on the individual needs of every student.”
Please check website for latest class times, including a new timeslot for my regular class on Tuesday evening starting 10th August. Now a one hour class from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, for those who finish work a little later, or those who have requested a slightly shorter class.
August Yogi of the month is Tracy Waddington (Tracyji). Many of you would have been lucky enough to take a class with Tracy, and even been led by her in a sacred music class triangle sequence. Tracy has been an amazingly consistent twice a week yogini since Yoga Vida’s inception, and this can easily be seen by her amazing practice. She wins a $100 gift voucher from Lorna Jane, and a free one on one PT session with Nick, from Play, Fun and Fitness, valued at $159. Just in case yoga was getting too easy.
Speaking of Play, Fun and Fitness, I would like to thank Gez, Noni, Nick and the crew for allowing Yoga Vida to be a part of their fun day on Alex Hill last month. Thanks also to the Yogis who came along to participate, and attract more people to our fold. Also congrats to their crew for opening up their new state of the art fitness centre in Kawana. Please ask me for details if you would like to add them to your training regime. I am loving my weekly PT session.
Also, don’t forget, August is the last month of winter, and the final month for you to introduce a friend and get your class for free. Quite a few of you have been taking me up on the offer over winter, and I thank you for sharing our Yoga with your friends and family, and am happy to repay you with free yoga. I also thank those of you have stepped up and started using the online booking system. It is such an easy and useful tool for you all to use to your advantage. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions re its use. See you on the mat.
Until next month, Namaste, Bryan and the Yoga Vida team
